 Project Profile
HCA Plant Expansion Kalama, WA
Noveon awarded JH Kelly the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the HCA Production Project. This project provided Kelly an opportunity to blend their construction talent with UniField Engineering (UEI) of Vancouver, WA to design and build the facility in close concert with the customer. Beginning in mid December, the project team designed and constructed a new contained tank farm and process area, with pipe bridges that tie back into the existing plant. There are nine large tanks, a reactor, and a 60ft distillation column to set, along with an equipment skid with five heat exchangers. Connecting the vessels and equipment is 10,000 lineal feet of pipe and wire which allow for Noveon to produce hexyl cinnamic aldehyde (HCA) from C8 alcohol. JH Kelly's fabrication shop in Longview supported this project's aggressive schedule by minimizing field manhours and allowing for concurrent schedule progress in two locations. Kelly's electrical engineers and piping design detailers worked closely with UniField Engineering's civil, structural, process, mechanical and instrumentation & controls engineers and the customer to produce the construction documents from which JH Kelly's unified civil, structural, mechanical and electrical construction team built the new facility. Special points of interest: - Multi-discipline
- EPC Project
- Aggresive schedule
