JH Kelly is currently providing the plumbing and medical gas work scopes for an eight-story addition to Salem Hospital. This new tower brings approximately 400,000 square feet and 200 patient beds to the existing facility. The primary construction challenge was working in an active hospital complex - there is limited lay- down area; tying new systems into existing systems is challenging; and labor and material coordination is key. The new tower connects to the existing hospital through two walkways. It will add 18 operating rooms and 200 patient beds to the facility. This project is scheduled for substantial completion in November 2008. Special points of interest: - 400,000 square feet of new space
