Clean Gasoline Project Blaine, WA
 
JH Kelly teamed with BP to construct a Clean Gasoline Project at the BP Cherry Point Refinery. This project entailed installation of a UOP Penex Plus® Unit. The Penex Plus unit is a naphtha Isomerization process. This project provided BP with the ability to exceed current and future federal gasoline sulfur regulations and maintain the long term viability of the Cherry Point Refinery as a facility and community member. JH Kelly was responsible for the construction of the Process Unit (IBL) portion of the project. Crews began work at the refinery after months of preplanning with BP and Jacobs Engineering in Houston, Texas. They excavated 27,000 cubic yards of material, placed 4,600 cubic yards of concrete and handled more than 1,000 tons of structural steel. The work included 145 equipment sets (including columns, reactors, air coolers, drums, pumps, heat exchangers, compressor and furnace) and installation of 85,000 linear feet of U/G and A/G piping. JH Kelly managed, scheduled and coordinated several subcontractors including electrical, mass excavation, piling, painting, fireproofing and insulation to a safe project completion. This quality project was safely completed under budget within 12 months of the project start. Special points of interest: - Zero lost time injuries
